The Watershed Support Network is a collaborative effort convened by River Network to bring together organizations that are actively working to build the capacity of local watershed efforts. WSN affiliates typically work across a large basin, a state or a region.
An important goal of the Watershed Support Network is to unify the assessment and training techniques used by capacity-building organizations. We do this by jointly developing training techniques, by assessing the results of training and consulting efforts, and by creating a venue for capacity-building organizations to learn from each other. We host annual “Train the Trainer” events on both organizational and technical topics of interest to many of the local groups we serve. Examples of these include: Building Stronger Boards, Raising More Money from Individuals, Using the Clean Water Act and Investigating Community Health Concerns.
There is no formal process for joining Watershed Support Network. We welcome any organization that is working to build the capacity of local watershed groups in their area to participate. To learn more about the Network, contact Dawn DiFuria.
