City of Santa Barbra Conservation Specialist Cathie Pare released a video series on home water conservation and residential tips. This video series is very 'user friendly' and is a great medium to communicate to the public how to help maintain a more earth friendly, green, water and energy conserving home.
In these videos, Cathie does a great job explaining how to look for water leaks inside and out of the home. She shows you how to inspect and adjust fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom for water overuse, how to adjust the hot water heater to minimize wasting water, and when to water your lawn for maximum effectiveness and efficiency.

In the next three clips, Cathie discusses water loss in the bathroom. I think it's really important to know that in the home, the number one undetected leak and one largest source for wasted or lost water is in the toilet. The water loss doesn't even necessarily come from over-flushing of toilets heavy water consumption, but from leaks in the tank. According to Cathie, toilets can lose 100 to 150 gallons of water each day through leaks. That is a pretty scary figure.
