Author: Travis Leipzig

On July 31, 2011 through August 3, 2011, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) will be holding an exciting conference, Energy and Water 2011: Efficiency, Generation, Management, and Climate Impacts.

Don't miss this important gathering to discuss the collisions between energy and water, policy and moving forward. Here is the full press release by ACEEE:

Conference Announcement
Municipal water supply and wastewater treatment systems are among the most energy-intensive facilities owned and operated by local governments, representing as much as half of a municipality’s total electricity consumption. Approximately 4 per cent of the nation’s electricity goes towards moving and treating water and wastewater.

The Water Environment Federation and its cooperating partners are pleased to announce a Conference that covers not just the significant topic of energy in the water sector, but also includes broader issues of climate change impacts and adaptation for the water environment. Professionals, governments, and utilities are looking for information to guide planning and technical solutions and to start adopting practices and strategies that advance sustainability and improve our energy profile. This conference will bring together researchers, regulators, designers, technology developers, students, municipal agencies/utilities, facility managers/operators, industry representatives, and other environmental professionals from around the world to share and debate the current state of knowledge of the water-energy nexus. Technical presentations will be complimented by open discussions to examine research, design, approaches, strategies, and operational issues and thereby also provide a forum for the discussion of sustainable approaches to the energy-water nexus.

Call for Abstracts is now Closed.

Presenters are expected to register for the Conference and pay the appropriate registration fee. No travel or assistance funds are available for speakers.
