Introducing the River Rally Story Lounge!

The first-ever River Rally Story Lounge will be the go-to conference space for deep, interactive story sharing: a new platform to amplify successes from across the national network of water, justice, and river advocates.

One of the most inspiring and energizing aspects of each River Rally is connecting with peers in the water space and hearing their stories. From how they came to work in water, to how they’re successfully advocating in their communities, sharing stories brings the network together in a deeply personal and powerful way.

To support this story sharing, and ensure that these stories are heard beyond Rally too, we’re thrilled to bring the Story Lounge to River Rally in Grand Rapids this year.

In the cozy and supportive space, attendees will tell their stories and connect with regional and national journalists, podcasters, and other outlets. From taking advantage of historic federal investments in water infrastructure to the latest in drinking water policy, climate resilience, environmental justice, and more, this space will provide a national stage for local advocates, spreading solutions across the country.

How will this all work? The Story Lounge will have a set schedule each day, with all activities taking place in a dedicated room. Blocks will be reserved for specific speakers and/or topics and open space to host emergent conversations and creativity. Here’s a peek into what we have lined up so far, and be sure to subscribe to our email list to stay updated on the full program:

  • Stories from Trail Mix, a hiking program in Orange, New Jersey, supported through River Network’s Flow Fund
  • Stories from River Network’s Emerging Leaders
  • State policy advocacy success stories and actionable advice
  • Federal Funding successes, from EPA’s WaterTA to FEMA programs
  • Our first-ever LIVE Meet Your Network interview

These stories will be recorded with footage made available to participants and used in future River Network storytelling efforts. So, even if you can’t make it to Rally, you’ll be able to access some of the inspiration and passion that’s on display at this impactful event long after River Rally.

We can’t wait to share these stories with you and bring the network together in Grand Rapids this May.
