Integrated Water Resource Management and the Water, Energy, Climate Change Nexus

Author: Bevan Griffiths-Sattenspiel

Integrated water resource management seeks to manage and develop water, land and resources in coordination so that resultant economic and social welfare is maximized without harming the environment. River Network’s focus on the inextricable connections between water, energy and climate change represent one very important aspect of integrated water resource management.

Integrated Water Resource Management and the Water, Energy, Climate Change Nexus (PDF) is a discussion report/dissertation written by Nathan Cammerman, then a graduate student at the International Water Centre. The report takes look at the current status of water resource management and theory and the benefits of applying integrated approaches to managing and developing water and energy resources. Despite being academic in nature, Cammerman’s discussion of the water-energy-climate nexus is very readable and navigating through the mountain of information he provides is a piece of cake.
