Diana Toledo is River Network’s Mobilization & Southeast Program Director and is based in Asheville, North Carolina. Ever since living through the damming of the wild Mao River and subsequent flooding of 13 rural communities in the Dominican Republic nearly 20 years ago, Diana has worked to support citizen efforts to protect freshwater resources and the communities that depend on them. She has done so from various perspectives - as an organizer, an advocate, a funder and a policy geek.
Prior to joining River Network in 2006, Diana spent 6 years at the River Alliance of Wisconsin assisting local watershed organizations and serving as Acting Executive Director. Previously, she worked on Great Lakes policy and funding initiatives while at the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program. She also spent time teaching and working with community-based organizations in the Central African Republic and the Dominican Republic with the Peace Corps.
When she’s not working, Diana can be found camping, backpacking, paddling or gardening in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina with her longtime partner and their two daughters.
