Steve directs our Healthy Waters, Healthy Communities Program, which provides tools to communities to investigate the connection between human health problems and environmental contamination. He has most recently worked with communities in Mississippi, New Mexico, and Vermont. In conjunction with this work, Steve has held an appointment as a Visiting Scientist at the Harvard School of Public Health for most of the past decade. As part of the broader River Watch program, Steve has provided organizational and technical help to local and regional river monitoring networks.

Steve is also a licensed psychologist and does organizational and leadership consulting. Steve has formerly worked doing public policy research at Abt Associates, and water quality monitoring with the US Environmental Protection Agency.
