For twenty-two years, River Network has existed to support the thousands of local and state river and watershed groups that work to protect and restore our nation's watersheds. As part of that effort, we are focusing particular attention on areas that are key to the long-term success of this growing national movement to protect rivers.
Identifying and acting on initiatives where funders of all types can support our Partner organizations' work, we work on projects that enable those organizations to protect and restore valuable river and watershed ecosystems, build local group capacity to effect positive change and develop replicable models to export to river and watershed organizations across the nation.
Urban Rivers: River Network has partnered with U.S. EPA and Groundwork USA to “jump start” a new urban waters movement in the U.S., one that builds highly capable and sustainable community-based organizations working to restore urban waterways.
Occupy This River: River Network will support 15-20 local watershed organizations working in low-income communities through capacity-building services over a two-year period. The focus of this assistance is to help organizations better define, measure and track the outcomes of their work in order to create more effective programs and attract more resources for their efforts. River Network is partnering with the Corporation for National and Community Service and various state and regional training partners.
