Position Summary
The State of the Salmon Conference will take place May 4-7, 2010 at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Portland, Oregon. Volunteers will assist conference staff with a variety of tasks to ensure a professional and enjoyable experience for all conference participants. This part-time, temporary position is unpaid. Volunteer Tasks Include:

  • Assistance with conference set-up
  • Assistance with registration for conference and reception
  • Coordination of conference equipment
  • Timekeeping
  • Meeting room set-up
  • Organization of Poster Session
  • Running microphones
  • Note taking
  • General assistance/go-fering, as needed

Qualifications
Interested individuals should be:

  • Available for at least two (2) volunteer shifts during the conference
  • Reliable, communicative and able to multi-task and take direction
  • Interested in the ecological interactions between wild and hatchery salmon
  • Able to go-with-the-flow and have a great sense of humor
  • Available May 4-7th, 2010 in Portland, Oregon

Time Commitment
Attendance at pre-conference volunteer training and completion of at least two (2) 4-hour shifts during the conference.

Additional Information
Please note that we can not cover volunteer travel/lodging expenses, but we may be able to assist you with finding a friendly couch on which to sleep. Volunteers reports to the Conference Manager and Volunteer Coordinator.
