Internship Description
The National Tropical Botanical Garden is seeking two summer employees to assist with control of invasive species in their gardens and preserves on Kaua`i. Work would focus primarily on the remote and relatively pristine Upper Limahuli Preserve, and would include control of invasive Australian tree ferns and other non-native plants and removal of feral pigs and non-native predators from the preserve, particularly in the vicinity of endangered ground-nesting seabirds.

Qualifications
Candidates must be willing to spend the summer at remote campsites, travel to work areas via helicopter and boat, use herbicides safely, and euthanize invasive animals humanely. Past experience in wilderness travel, work safety, and animal trapping desirable.

Compensation & Benefits
Food will be provided while in the field. Shared (and sometimes primitive) housing will be provided on non-duty days. This is an internship offering, but could lead to long-term employment opportunities if funds allow. Salary is $1600/month.
