Healthy rivers are one of a community’s most vital assets but they need our help to remain clean and trash free.

Nearly every river in this country is plagued by trash either washed into storm drains from our cities and neighborhoods or left behind on the bank. The good news is, there’s something you can do about it!

Help the river you love and join or organize a cleanup with National River Cleanup™ 2009!
It’s a fun way to get family and friends out on the river.

Last year, hundreds of river cleanup organizers and hundreds of thousands of volunteers joined the American Rivers National River Cleanup™ Program. Together, they had some impressive results:

  • 2,400 tons of trash were removed
  • 76,000 river miles were cleaned up
  • 3,000 river cleanups were held across the country

Whether you want to participate in an existing cleanup or organize one of your own, American Rivers has what you need to get started, including:

  • Frequently Asked Questions for volunteers and organizers
  • A comprehensive Organizer’s Handbook
  • An interactive map to find registered cleanups

Please Organize a cleanup today or volunteer at a cleanup near you!
