The mission of Prescott Creeks is to promote, protect, and celebrate the ecological integrity of riparian systems and wetlands in central Arizona watersheds through conservation, restoration and education.
PROJECT FOCUS AREAS AND ACTIVITIES
A.) Web Development: The VISTA member will research, design and implement a dynamic and user-oriented website for Prescott Creeks, integrating existing information and utilizing new resources and materials. The VISTA will incorporate a volunteer recruitment and registration component in the website, exploring existing methods and tools available. The VISTA will be responsible for all maintenance and web updates, keeping the site relevant and current.
B.) Funding and Partnership Development: The VISTA will research various funding and advertising opportunities to assist in website costs. He/She will develop relationships with potential partners that are knowledgeable in website development and other technology needs; the VISTA will work with the Prescott Creeks Fundraising Committee to implement relevant elements of the Prescott Creeks annual fundraising plan.
C.) Promotion and Outreach: Following web design/development, the VISTA will create new promotional materials and initiate community outreach events to help drive traffic to new website and encourage revisits. He/She will investigate feasibility and effectiveness social networking/blogging sites to drive traffic to website.
Requirements and Benefits
A. Education, Skills and Abilities
+ College Degree preferred or equivalent experience
+ 18 years or older, no upper age limit. All ages are welcome and
encouraged to apply
+ Computer and Internet/Email (Microsoft Office Suite)
+ Website design experience necessary
+ Adobe CS, Drupal, Joomla, CiviCRM, SalesForce or similar software
familiarity highly desirable
+ Proven project management skills. Ability to develop & implement a
project work plan to achieve stated goals
+ Interest and/or experience in environmental conservation and protection,
specifically river conservation and protection (or related field)
+ Written communication skills, including grant writing
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting in a
consistent, energetic, positive manner, group facilitation and/or public speaking skills beneficial
+ Self motivated; ability to work independently with minimal supervision
+ Documentation and organizational skills
+ Effective problem solving skills
+ Ability and desire to work with a variety of individuals residing in
urban and rural communities
+ Ability to understand "big picture" while completing detail oriented
tasks (lumper and splitter
all-in-one)
+ Friendly and effective interpersonal skills
+ Healthy sense of humor
+ Ability and desire to occasionally travel independently (in Arizona)
B. AmeriCorps VISTA Member Benefits (Full-time)
+ Living Allowance - $10,380 for year of service; Housing Subsidy - $100
per month
+ Choice of a $4,725 education award OR a $1,200 cash stipend upon
completion of service
