First Place Finish for River Network in Stonyfield Farm 'Bid with your Lid' Program

River Network collects 91,363 votes - nearly 42% of all votes cast; receives $36,697 total contribution.

Portland, OR-Stonyfield Farm’s latest "Bid with your Lid" promotion attracted more than 218,000 consumer votes, determining the amount of support each of three participating environmental groups received from the organic yogurt company.

Stonyfield Farm donated a total of $100,000 to River Network, the National Gardening Association and Conservation International, but the exact amount to each organization was determined by the public, which cast votes online or by mail with Stonyfield Farm yogurt lids.

River Network received 41.74% of the vote, Conservation International 35.33%, and the National Gardening Association 22.93%.

We are very excited to have finished in first place,” says Don Elder, River Network President. “Every day, thousands of people are getting involved in new efforts to protect and restore their local waters. This contribution will allow us to increase the watershed protection services, training and resources we provide to communities across the country. We are also very proud to have been a part of this partnership with Stonyfield Farm, a true corporate leader actively committed to making a positive social and environmental impact.”

Each year through its Profits for the Planet (PFP) Program, Stonyfield Farm donates 10% of its profits to efforts that help protect and restore the Earth.
"The participating organizations benefit from the exposure this promotion provides as well as our monetary support," says Gary Hirshberg, Stonyfield Farm President and CE-Yo. "It's a win-win situation: more members and more support mean these groups can expand their efforts to protect the Earth, efforts that ultimately benefit us all."

During the months of July and August, Stonyfield Farm printed a promotional message on 19 million yogurt lids, asking consumers to "bid with their lids."
