The Scholarship Scoop

River Rally scholarships are limited - they always are. Though we can not guarantee financial assistance to all applicants, we will make every reasonable attempt to ensure that all interested individuals can attend the event. River Network can not award full registration scholarships and travel scholarships are extremely scarce. We also look kindly upon applicants who acknowledge that the River Rally is an opportunity for professional development, and as such, are willing to make some personal (or organizational) contribution to the cause. Scholarship requests are due no later than March 15. Applicants will be notified by phone, email and/or post of their award by the end of March. Confirmation of acceptance is requested. Contact Katherine Luscher with any questions regarding scholarships - or any extra money you may have.

Some Unsolicited (and free) Advice for Scholarship Applicants

When reviewing requests, we look kindly upon those who make an effort to cover most of their own costs. Scholarships are meant to supplement - not subsidize - your attendance. Most awards average $250.

It is not advisable to request a deluxe room with a hot-tub and then ask for a scholarship. Nor is it advisable to request more than the total of your registration costs. Equally frowned upon is accepting an award and then not showing up. Oh, and you'll win points if, when leaving a voicemail, you'll pronounce the scholarship coordinator's name properly (hint: she says her name at the beginning of the message).
