This resource provides the basic steps in identifying and involving stakeholders in a project planning process. A stakeholder is someone who has a vested interest in a planning process or project by virtue of their potential to gain or lose according to the outcomes of the process. Identifying the community of stakeholders at the beginning of project planning and keeping them involved is key to the success of any project.
