New federal guidelines on the proper disposal of medicine are intended to reduce pharmaceuticals getting into the environment. Yet many people continue to flush because that was what they were taught. In the session, conveners will demonstrate the federal guidelines, present two pilot pharmaceuticals disposal initiatives in the Potomac River Watershed and the State of Maine, and facilitate small group interactions to generate a marketing campaign around safe disposal.
