Dr. Christine Sprunger, Assistant Professor of Soil Science and Rizosphere Processes, The Ohio State University

Dr. Christine Sprunger is an Assistant Professor of Soil Science and Rhizosphere Processes within the School of Environment and Natural Resources at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on the intersection of agriculture and the environment, where she investigates how climate change impacts crop production, nutrient cycling, soil food webs, and rhizosphere dynamics. In addition, much of Sprunger’s work addresses how crop diversity, perenniality, and reduced tillage contribute to important ecosystem services such as soil carbon sequestration and nitrogen use. Dr. Sprunger also conducts interdisciplinary research with social scientists to understand farmer perceptions of soil health, adaptation, and climate. For more information about Dr. Sprunger’s work please visit www.sprungerlab.com.

Dania Gutierrez, Southern California Program Manager, National Forest Foundation

Dania Gutierrez joined the NFF in February 2019 as the California Program Manager in Southern California. She works closely with Southern California National Forest Units to develop program goals, foster relationships with community stakeholders, and oversee the implementation of key restoration and recreation projects. Prior to joining NFF, Dania worked for the LA Better Buildings Challenge and the Green Sports Alliance where she brought together key stakeholders to develop strategies and programs that encourage sustainable business practices at the intersection of the public and private sector. Dania has an MS in Natural Resources and Environment from the University of Michigan, and a BS in Wildlife Conservation from the University of Florida.

Megan Nguyen, Communications Associate, California Trout

At California Trout, Megan is a science communicator who manages both educational content for social media and programming for outreach events. She believes that uplifting diverse voices in conservation will inspire the next generation of science communicators. Outside of work, Megan is an energetic advocate using her voice to inspire people to turn their passion into action. Her energy and creativity as a musician and organizer shines bright in her activism work with the Sunrise Movement, a national movement of young people fighting for policies that address climate change. She has led strikes, sit-ins, and trainings for Sunrise, and through this work, Megan hopes to empower young leaders to challenge injustice in their communities.
