Goose Island Event
NeighborSpace is the only nonprofit urban land trust in Chicago that preserves and sustains gardens on behalf of dedicated community groups. We shoulder the responsibilities of property ownership — such as providing basic insurance, access to water, and links to support networks — so that community groups can focus on gardening. NeighborSpace-protected gardens give young and old alike an opportunity to get their hands in the earth and enjoy nature, right in their own neighborhoods.
Join Neighborspace and your colleagues at Goose Island for a volunteer day at Lawndale’s Unity Park Story Trail! Volunteers will be preparing and building new benches, painting garden features, and mulching this community park in Chicago’s Lawndale neighborhood.
Where: 1901 S Kostner (Check in at the orange tent).
When: Saturday, October 16th, from 9 am – 12 noon. (Come a little early, we will have coffee and light breakfast items.)
What to bring: Bring a water bottle, wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on, and don’t worry about gloves or tools, we will have those on hand.
