Networking & Learning
River Network helps organizations network with and learn from their peers around the country by coordinating peer learning networks focused on a variety of issues. Our job is to connect groups and individuals with each other to accomplish things that can’t be accomplished alone.
- The Urban Waters Learning Network is a peer-to-peer network of people and organizations that share practical on-the-ground experiences in order to improve urban waterways and revitalize the neighborhoods around them. As a coordinator of the Learning Network, our goal is to provide support and opportunities for members to share successes, challenges, and technical resources.
- The National Water Trails Network is a network created to support individuals and organizations managing one of the 19 federally designated National Water Trails, or other water trails wishing to pursue that designation.
- Chesapeake Watershed Forum is a three-day conference held in Shepherdstown, WV that brings together representatives from local watershed organizations and local governments to learn the latest restoration science and direction, network with other groups facing similar challenges, and be inspired to continue the work of preserving and restoring the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. River Network staff generally lead training sessions and are available to assist watershed leaders during the event.
- Delaware River Watershed Forum is an annual gathering of NGOs, government agencies, foundations, and other organizations working across the Delaware River region. The two-day forum offers training sessions and facilitated discussions on critical issues affecting conservation and restoration work in the watershed. River Network staff generally provide training and are available for coaching and mentoring.
River Network also hosts a large conference every year, called River Rally, that brings together hundreds of river advocates and watershed groups, thought leaders and experts, scientists and funders, tribal representatives, volunteers and concerned citizens to share knowledge, get inspired, and celebrate success. Leadership development and capacity building concepts are expanded upon each year in workshop format and through one-on-one mentoring opportunities.
