River Monitoring Study Design Workbook

by Geoff Dates

Rivers are particularly complex aquatic ecosystems that are made up of many inter-related physical, chemical and biological parts. These parts are all affected by activities in and on the water and in the watershed that drains into the river. River monitoring is essential to understanding our rivers and to making good river management decisions, and then evaluating how well these decisions work. This workbook is intended to help people produce study designs for community-based, and scientifically-credible, river monitoring that is tailored to the needs, issues, and resources of their community.
