Dr. Bauman is a private consultant to public, private, and non-profit organizations, focusing on energy and environmental issues. He is presently a senior advisor to the Rodel Foundation, directing an initiative to accelerate carbon-free energy. From 2015-2018, Paul served as the Vice President for Strategy and Development for Tompkins Conservation. Before joining the Tompkins team, Paul worked at The Nature Conservancy for 13 years, first in Colorado, followed by 10 years on the Global Priorities team. He was a team member on several of TNC’s large landscape projects, including Great Bear-Canada, Forever Costa Rica, and the Montana Legacy Project.
Prior to his conservation career, Dr. Bauman was a faculty member and administrator at the University of Colorado, including numerous NGO consultancies through the Center for Public-Private Sector Cooperation in the Graduate School of Public Affairs. In the early 1980s, Paul served as a conservation projects manager for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Region VIII office. He holds a PhD in Public Policy, and lives in Boulder, Colorado.
