Ryan received his first computer (a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A) when he was 4 years old. By the time he was 6, he was writing his own simple programs in BASIC, and becoming immersed in the brave new world of “Personal Computers”. During his teenage years, he formed his own business, providing computer service and support to his parents, their coworkers, and neighbors who struggled to make their technology work as intended. With the seminal release of Windows 95, Ryan began providing telephone support to Microsoft users, many of whom were using a computer for the first time. He spent the next decade working in end-user support for companies such as Microsoft, Micron, and Symantec, receiving several awards and commendations for delivering excellent customer experiences. Ryan possess a knack for translating complex technological issues into plain English, and guiding users to the solutions they need to get the job done.
In 2007, Ryan came to the realization that his skills and experience could serve a purpose higher than profit, and by fate found his way to River Network’s offices. In his role as IT Specialist, Ryan oversees all aspects of technology for the organization, keeping River Network’s systems running effectively and efficiently, and delivering critical support to River Network staff to ensure that technology is a benefit and not a burden.
When Ryan isn’t working, he prefers to spend his time away from the glow of the screen, exploring the natural world with his son, rafting the whitewater of the Northwest, and learning more about the ancient technological systems of heart, mind, and spirit.
