In these challenging economic times, few environmental organizations have the resources to hire costly consultants or specialized staff. That’s where we come in: River Network’s staff includes some of the nation’s most talented organizers, fundraisers and technical experts.
Our assistance can help groups establish clear long-term goals, develop practical short-term plans, secure adequate funding, build strong leadership, get technical, legal and communications help, and connect with each other to accomplish things that can’t be accomplished alone.
Our staff works with people young and old, rich and poor, urban and rural – people
working to protect our few remaining pristine watersheds, to restore our many degraded ones, and to improve the rest. Their work is as diverse as they are. The one thing they have in common is a passion for America’s rivers, streams and estuaries.
We help in a number of ways. You can browse our extensive resource library for helpful online articles on a range of topics from a to z. We offer dozens of print publications that cover everything from starting a new group to our Clean Water Act Owner's Manual. Our National River Rally is an annual gathering of more than 500 grassroots leaders and activists that includes more than 70 workshops on an eclectic mix of organizational development and technical topics. Finally, we provide direct training to a limited number of organizations to meet specific, but diverse, needs, whether it's building a stronger board, or learning how to effectively address stormwater pollution.
