General Scholarship Fund & Terms of Agreement | Presenter Scholarships
Waterkeeper Alliance and River Network are hard at work securing scholarship funds to make the River Rally financially accessible to all who wish to attend. If you’re not sure you’ll be able to find the money to attend (or whether the Partner scholarship amount will cover enough of your costs), we will provide a “no cost obligation” opportunity to register.
If you just can’t make it work, you’ll have until April 1st to cancel without any fees.
You must be a current River Network Partner to apply for a scholarship from River Network. Simply indicate, when asked during online registration, that you are applying for a scholarship and answer a few questions (e.g., amount requested, reason for request, etc.). It's just that easy. When asked about payment on the last page of your registration process, enter the provided coupon code and pay a $50 (refundable) deposit. And then? Wait for your scholarship award e-letter to arrive in late March.
If you are not awarded a scholarship, or determine that the amount awarded is not sufficient, you can receive a full refund of any payment if you alert us of your decision no later than April 1st, so that we can release your room with the hotel. Cancellations between April 2-15 are subject to a $100 cancellation fee. Cancellations after April 15 are not refundable, but the registration is transferable to another person at your organization.
Scholarship applicants must be a staff, board members or volunteers of a current dues-paying River Network Partner organization. Scholarships are not available to cover the cost of single rooms, field trips, transportation, extra meals or any other special events.
On average, the scholarship awards are $250, though we will do our best to ensure that every interested individuals can join us in Oregon. As a general rule, it is not wise to ask for a scholarship, plead 'flat-broke'...and then request a single room, a massage, a field trip and extra meals.
To help us protect our integrity with our funders, scholarship recipients will be asked to commit to:
Failure to meet these terms will render individuals ineligible to receive a River Rally scholarship for the next 2 years.
Waterkeeper Alliance and River Network are happy to provide one (1) presenter scholarship per workshop. That is to say, even if you have recruited nine (9) co-presenters, only one (1) of you can receive the $300 presenter scholarship. That one (1) person should indicate that he/she would like the presenter scholarship during the registration process. Co-presenters not receiving the presenter scholarship can apply for assistance via our general scholarship fund. All approved presenters are eligible for the Partner rate.
