Private Wells & PFAS: What You Need to Know
15
Event Info
Does your drinking water come from a private well? Are you concerned that members of your community may be exposed to contaminants in their drinking water? Join River Network for a learning session devoted to the specific topic of drinking water wells, their regulations (or lack thereof), and a pollutant class that’s on everyone’s minds: PFAS. 15% of the US population depend on private wells for their drinking water, and private well owners are responsible for monitoring and maintaining their own drinking water systems.
With a special guest presentation from Emily Sutton, the Executive Director and Haw Riverkeeper of the Haw River Assembly in North Carolina, and River Network’s very own intern from UNC Chapel Hill, Nancy Smart, you’ll learn about the basics of private well contamination concerns, actions private well owners can take, and how organizations can use maps, monitoring, and filtration systems to keep community members informed and safe.
