John Klunk

John Klunk (PA), Founder, Cordorus Monitoring Network, hadn’t planned on becoming an advocate for the environment. But when the stream behind his house turned a dark, rusty-brown color, and began to emit a horrible smell, John wanted to find out the cause. It took almost twenty years of letter writing and organizing public meetings, but he and others finally got results–and a $2 million settlement that became the Cordorus Watershed Endowment. John has made a profound difference for the health of his community, and his voluntary efforts have made the Cordorus Creek the cleanest it has been in 80 years.
