Wild and Scenic 50th Anniversary Community-Building Grants: Proposals Due 3/30

Is your organization looking to launch initiatives or events that engage community around the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act? To aid in the planning and execution of anniversary events, River Network is offering financial support to a limited number of grassroots organizations.

River Network will provide 2-3 small grants ($3,000 – $5,000) to support events or initiatives that engage communities around the 50th anniversary and that build local groups’ long-term capacity for river stewardship, storytelling, and advocacy on Wild and Scenic River issues and campaigns. The events or initiatives should engage diverse audiences, thereby broadening and strengthening the community engagement programs of grassroots river and watershed groups – creativity is encouraged!

These funds can be used to support any aspect of planning and carrying out an event or initiative, e.g., communications, creation of outreach materials, staff time, planning and implementing events, workshops or convenings, etc. Successful grantees will need to post their event on the WSR 50th Events Map and create and share a short summary/highlight account of the event (blog, short video, etc.) that River Network can feature on its website. Grantees and other interested parties are also encouraged to join us at River Rally 2018, including a one-day wild and scenic river pre-meeting. Fill out the form to let us know more about your organization’s plans for the 50th anniversary and how this grant can support your work.

For a list of event ideas and other useful event planning and community building resources, check out the Wild and Scenic Rivers 50th anniversary toolkit. For clarifying questions, please contact Katherine Baer, kbaer (at) rivernetwork (dot) org.

Applications are due on March 30th.
